I’m always impressed with the power of waves.

I love the personality of these little jumping spiders.  This one was following me around a bit and jumped on my hand when I reached out to it.  They are super cool.  It’s impressive how good their vision is and how you can interact with them.  I like how many color variations there are, too.  Green eyes with an orange body and striped legs is pretty great.

I took this photograph off the coast of California.  It’s pretty cool to watch a humpback whale repeatedly breeching.

This is a photograph that I took this week of comet NEOWISE.  This is a 15 second exposure with a 400mm lens.  NEOWISE is currently visible from North America just after sunset in the northwestern sky.  It is fairly faint, but large enough to be seen by eye.  An evening this week, take a look between the big dipper and the horizon just after the sky gets dark enough to see a few stars. Binoculars are helpful to see the tail.

 

Sometimes I take the Mojave Desert for granted.  It really is quite a neat place.

The cloud forest of Kauai are pretty amazing.  Not only is the dense green forest beautiful, but the geography of steep forest covered cliffs divided by many waterfalls is spectacular.

I like how clear mountain streams can be.

I photographed these Dall Sheep in the subarctic Yukon.  These sheep have excellent eyesight, and it took a while for them to get used to me.  They are neat animals, and it’s seriously impressive how they maneuver on the face of rocky cliffs.
