One of my favorite dune fields is the Panamint Dunes. They are tucked away at the northern end of the Panamint Valley and have a nice localized appearance. The dunes are surrounded on three sides by a large escarpment that frames the dunes in an interesting setting. I took this photograph from the open side of a light aircraft.

Seeing the perspective from above is so much different than on the ground, especially seeing them without being framed by the mountains.
