Sunday Nature Stills – 9/23/2012

Just one photo today.

This is an 8-foot long female Galapagos Shark that I photographed off of the North-West coast of Oahu.  This shark was in 460 feet of water about 3 miles off the coast.

These sharks spend most of their time on the sea floor, but if they hear splashing or anything break the surface of the water above them they come up in search of potential food.  They surface in groups and circle the area.

The water was a little rough; all the small air bubbles are from waves churning up the water.
