I took this photograph in an open valley south of the Alaska Range. The valley floor was a carpet of bright green wetlands that were divided up by interesting glacial geographic features. The hill slopes were covered in ripe blueberries and the valley floor was dotted with a few small groups of caribou. It was a beautiful place.
Hummingbirds are super cool. It’s hard not to like an iridescent little creature that effortlessly zips around in search of flowers.
Panamint dunes is one of my favorite dune fields in California. The dunes have an interesting defined shape and sit nested in a bowl of mountains.
The west coast of Kauai is still one of the prettiest places that I have every seen.

It was really calming to just sit and watch these zebra graze. It’s nice to watch healthy animals going about their lives in their native habitat.
We went on a walk late one afternoon along the shore of a beautiful little lake in eastern Alaska near the Canada border. On our walk, we noticed a tree had been freshly chewed by a beaver. After dinner, we went on the same walk, and the tree had been cut through in just an hour or so. The next morning, we went back to the same spot, and the tree was completely missing with only scuff marks in the leaf litter leading down to the lake. It was neat to see the progress of the little beaver doing its thing.
