I love all the climate zones that are produced by mountains. I think the local wet and rain shadow areas around mountains are fascinating, but I also really appreciate the vertical gradient of climates from the base to the peaks.

Being able to see a full mountain and the change in climate up the slope, like in your third image here, is really stunning.

I’ve always been fascinated by the way the west side of the mountains can get 58″ of snow in a storm and the east side may get 12″. I love to see the mountains in all seasons because the silhouette changes some each time.
